Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Workshop Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
June 27, 2016

The regular scheduled Workshop Meeting of the Woodsboro Town Council was held today at the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith, Commissioners Rittelmeyer, Spruill and Piechowski. Absent from the meeting was Commissioner Kellar.

There was one resident and no guest in attendance.

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the May 2016 minutes, a motion to accept them as presented was passed 3 – 0.

Under unfinished business, Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported reimbursement forms for POS has been submitted.

Burgess Smith reported he will be contacting Frederick County to have them look at our roads and help prepare a plan for maintenance.

Under new business, Burgess Smith provided a handout on tasks not getting done throughout the town. A lengthy discussion was held on the history of town employees and things that need attention. Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on things in the park that need attention. Burgess Smith will meet with the maintenance department to inform them of these tasks. Commissioner Rittelmeyer made a motion to hold performance increases for 60 days until things are done. Motion passed 3 – 0.

Commissioner Piechowski inquired on the town’s relationship with the Medical Center. Burgess Smith reported it is owned by Woodsboro Medical Center, Inc.

Commissioner Piechowski reported on using the tennis court one evening and witnessing bad things happening in the park. He asked how situations like this should be handled since the town does not have any signs up. He was informed to react as a parent or adult.

Bill inquired on the small John Deere tractor at the plant and wanted to know if the town would get rid of it. Burgess Smith will inquire with the maintenance men to see what is wrong with it.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer opened discussion on adopting a policy for lost town keys. He suggested charging a $25 lost key fee. A motion to do so passed 3 – 0.

Jason Boyer was in attendance to discuss a reduction in the $2160 fee for sub-dividing his property. A brief discussion was held and Burgess Smith suggested he pay the full amount and appeal it later.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 3 – 0.
