Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Council Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
March 10, 2015

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith and Commissioners Trimmer, Rittelmeyer, Kellar and Spruill.

There were eight guests and three residents in attendance.

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The first line of business was with the Verdant Development Group. Representatives of this group provided handouts and a Memorandum of Understanding for the Trout property at the south end of town. A discussion on the project and the MOU was held. The development group indicated they would donate a piece of property for the town to build a new town hall. They will come back to a meeting in the near future with a detailed MOU.

Susan Hauver, Zoning Administrator for the town was in attendance to discuss the Kent property and development off Rt. 194 adjacent to the WWTP. She informed the Council that Mr. Kent would like to operate an auto sales and service business. There was a discussion held on the Council’s concern of a junkyard coming from this type of business. There was also a concern of it being an eyesore for the new development going in across Rt. 194. Ms. Hauver will present the plans to the Planning and Zoning Committee for their feedback.

After review of the February 2015 minutes a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported he will be meeting with the State Highway Administration on Friday, March 20th to discuss repairs on the creek banks.

Commissioner Trimmer reiterated he will not run for public office again.

Commissioner Kellar reported he is researching hiring a Code Enforcement Officer and has contacted the towns of Thurmont, Walkersville and Emmitsburg for input.

Commissioner Spruill reported he has not had a chance to take pictures of the crack sealing flaws but now that the days are longer he will have more time.

Commissioner Spruill asked when the Holiday banners on Main Street would be taken down and was informed as soon as possible.

Resident Judy Katz reported she will be requesting the Copper Oaks sub-division signs be taken down earlier now and she will call the town office with a date.

Resident Jason Boyer inquired on what the status of the Creagerstown Road signs and speed limit signs. He was informed as soon as the ground thaws and post can be put in the ground.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on a hole at the storm drain near Dorcus Alley and North Second Street. He also reported a missing water cap at South Second Street and Barrick Lane. Mary will have maintenance fix these problems.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was passed 3 – 0.
