Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Council Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
February 10, 2015

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith and Commissioners Trimmer, Rittelmeyer and Spruill. Absent from the meeting was Commissioner Kellar.

There was one guest and two residents in attendance.

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the January 2015 minutes a motion to accept them as presented was passed 3 – 0.

After review of the January 2015 financials a motion to accept them as presented passed 3 – 0.

A brief discussion was held on moving funds from the General Fund checking to the General Fund money market. A motion to move $120,000 from the General Fund checking to the General Fund money market passed 3 – 0.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer had nothing to report.

Commissioner Spruill opened discussion on the crack sealing that was previously done on the streets. Burgess Smith has not had a chance to look at the work and suggested Commissioner Spruill take pictures of bad spots and document where they are.

Burgess Smith opened discussion on getting more banners for Main Street. It was decided that Mary get pricing. Commissioner Spruill inquired on when the Holiday banners would be taken down. Mary will let the maintenance men know to get them down.

Commissioner Trimmer inquired on the repair work on a drain pipe at the corner of South Main and Liberty Road. Burgess Smith informed him the work will be completed in the Spring.

Burgess Smith informed the Council of a new permitting requirement through MDE that required the towns Engineer review.

Resident Judy Katz asked if the signs in Copper Oaks could be taken down after February 18th. She would like to have the one across from Angus Way down first and will let the town know when to take them down.

Resident Judy Katz informed the Council of the good CD rates the Damascus Bank currently had.

Commissioner Trimmer reminded the Council that Elections will be held in May and Nominations for candidates will take place at the April meeting. He also informed the Council that he will not run for office again. A brief discussion was held on moving the April Town Meeting to Tuesday, April 21, 2015 due to conflicting schedules with a couple Council members. All agreed it was a good idea. There will be no Workshop meeting in April.

Resident Heather Johnson inquired on the location of the new Copper Oaks II sub-division. She was informed where it would be, how many homes and what type of homes would be built.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer inquired on the Code Enforcement position and Burgess Smith indicated he would like to discuss it further at the Workshop meeting.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was passed 3 – 0.
