Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
January 23, 2012

The regular scheduled Workshop Meeting of the Woodsboro Town Council was held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith, Commissioners Rittelmeyer and Trimmer. Absent from the meeting was Commissioners Spruill and Brakebill.

The first line of business was with Mr. Jon Hamburg of the Woodsboro New Midway Rec Council. Mr. Hamburg was in attendance to discuss installation of a new scoreboard and naming a ball diamond after his grandfather who resides in Delaware and was a big baseball fan. After discussion, it was decided to allow a new scoreboard but not to allow the naming of the ball diamond. Burgess Smith asked to see a picture of where the sign will be at the field. The Council decided to waive the fee for a zoning certificate that is required when doing electrical work. Also discussed was the installation of stairs from the concession stand to field #1 and up the hill to the soccer field.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported the Civil War Markers still need to be placed in the brackets and the one bracket should be moved in order for the maintenance men to get needed equipment through the cable and into certain areas of the park. He also opened discussion on fixing the post on the pavilions. Burgess Smith will meet with the maintenance men to see what they may be able to do.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported he still has not heard back from anyone on the wetland project.

Burgess Smith reported going to a resident’s home on the weekend to evaluate a leak at the water meter. Burgess Smith determined it was the Town’s problem and asked the resident to contact Gladhill Plumbing to fix it and have them send the invoice to the Town.

Burgess Smith opened discussion on two high water readings due to malfunctioning meters. It was decided to bill an average use for the October thru December billing and then get an average daily use for February and March to determine January’s use.

Burgess Smith reported on the Source Water Protection Plan being updated and informed the Council there will be a Public Hearing on it. Dates were discussed.

Commissioner Trimmer provided a few task for the maintenance men to perform at the Park.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary E. Rice
