Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Council Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
September 9, 2025

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with the following members present:

Burgess Barnes, Commissioners Cutshall, Rittelmeyer, Case and Hahn.

There was one guest and sixteen residents in attendance.

Burgess Barnes called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the August 2025 minutes, Mary Rice, Town Clerk, corrected a correction from the July 2025 minutes. A motion to accept this correction and the September 2025 minutes as presented passed 4 – 0.

After review of the August 2025 financials, a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

There was no unfinished business for discussion.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on the pond.

Commissioner Case reported on the street lights for Knotty Alder. He also reported on a few complaints from residents in reference to the blacktopping on Adams Street.

Commissioner Hahn reported on the food trucks and Woodsboro Days.

Commissioner Cutshall had nothing to report.

Burgess Barnes reported on the town hall.

Burgess Barnes provided three quotes for a new truck. They were, Criswell Chevrolet at $46,442, Wantz Chevrolet at $46,680, and Crouse Ford at $50,700. After a brief discussion a motion to accept the Criswell Chevrolet bid passed 4 – 0.

Burgess Barnes reported on POS grants.

Burgess Barnes reported on upcoming business he will attend to.

Comments from the public, resident Mitzi Smith, Adams Street, spoke on the new paving on Adams Street and thanked Commissioner Cutshall for getting it done.

Resident David Williams, Adams Street, inquired on the steel plate that has been on Main Street.

Resident Mary Jane Putman, Creagerstown Road, inquired on the poor condition of the railroad tracks on Creagerstown Rd.

Resident Rick Bontz, N. Main Street, inquired on the condition of sidewalks in town. A discussion on the sidewalks was held.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 4 – 0.
