Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at Town Hall – 605 S. Main Street, Woodsboro MD, 21798. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at Town Hall – 605 S. Main Street, Woodsboro MD, 21798. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with
the following members present:
Burgess Barnes, Commissioners Cutshall, Rittelmeyer, Case and Hahn.

There was one guest and twenty residents in attendance.

Burgess Barnes called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the September 2025 minutes, a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

After review of the September 2025 financials, a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

There was no unfinished business for discussion.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on the pond and provided two proposals. After discussion, a motion was made to accept the proposal for $27,000. Motion passed 4 – 0.

Commissioner Case reported on the streetlights for Knotty Alder. He has been in communication with Potomac Edison and will contact them again to inform them there is another transformer in the yard of 251 Knotty Alder Court.

Commissioner Hahn reminded everyone that Saturday is Woodsboro Days.

Commissioner Cutshall reported the road by Arnold Alley that had repair work done has begun to sink where it was fixed. He also feels the gates at the WWTP should be locked when no one is inside the facility.

Burgess Barnes reported on sending letters to businesses asking for furniture donations. He also reported that Ms. Betty Tucker-Younkins donated a new microwave to the town hall. Also reported was the resignation of Code Enforcement Officer Donny Strawsburg and the retirement of Planning and Zoning Administrator Susan Hauver. Ms. Hauver’s last day is the end of December 2025.

Burgess Barnes suggested moving the November meeting due to it falling on Veteran’s Day. It was decided to move the November meeting to Monday, November 17th.

He also informed the Council of the quarterly Maryland Municipal League meeting on Thursday, October 23rd and asked that anyone who would like to attend let him know.

Under comments from the public, resident David Williams, Adams Street, asked if a municipality could create an AmeriCorps policy. A brief discussion on sidewalk repair was held.

Resident Betty Tucker-Younkins, Knotty Alder Court, thanked everyone involved with the construction of the new town hall.

Resident Rick Bontz, N. Main Street, spoke on the Lead pipe inventory project, the pond project, skate
pond, and the sidewalks on Main Street.

Resident Gerald Sando, N. Main Street, spoke on the condition of the sidewalks on Main Street.

Resident Peggy Trimmer, S. Main Street, feels those who speak during public comments should give their names and addresses. She was informed that usually they do. She also asked the Council not to fill in the skate pond.

A representative from Clagett Management, the management company for Woodbury sub-division HOA, was in attendance to inquire on painting parking lines on the sub-divisions streets. She was informed that street parking is a first come first serve situation.

Resident Carol Tressler, Woodbury Drive, suggested parking be on one side of the street only.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 4 – 0.
