Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Council Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
October 8, 2024

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with the following members present:

Commissioners Cutshall, Case, Rittelmeyer and Eckenrode. Absent from the meeting was Burgess Barnes.

There were two guests and thirteen residents in attendance.

Commissioner Eckenrode called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the September 2024 minutes, a motion to accept them as presented passed 3 – 0.

After review of the September 2024 financials, a motion to accept them as presented passed 3 – 0.

Commissioner Cutshall reported the streets will be swept on October 16th.  He also reported the crosswalks were not done yet due to the weather. He asked that the town employees begin getting trucks and equipment ready for winter.

Commissioner Case reported that the Planning and Zoning Committee is trying to schedule a meeting to discuss several items.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer had nothing to report.

Commissioner Eckenrode reminded everyone about bulk trash on October 16th and Woodsboro Days that is being held on October 19th.

Donny Strausburg, Code Enforcement Officer for the town, was in attendance and inquired on the cars at a home on N. Main Street asking if a decision was made on them yet. He was informed that to date no decision has been made.  Mr. Strausburg also provided handouts pertaining to all the unlicensed cars at a business on Council Drive.  He obtained these notes from Zoning Administrator Susan Hauver.

Resident Mary Jo Putman, Creagerstown Road, was in attendance to discuss the speeding vehicles that utilize Creagerstown Road at a high rate of speed. She also had concerns with the weeds and brush that are growing along the bank from the back of 203 N Main Street.

Resident Betty Tucker-Younkins, Knotty Alder Court, was in attendance and inquired about the back-up of water in Israel Creek and Coppermine Road. She was informed that beavers are building dams and creating ponds of water in the creek. The State and DNR have been notified.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 3 – 0.
