Town Council Meeting Minutes
Woodsboro, Maryland
March 12, 2024
The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with the following members present:
Commissioners Cutshall, Rittelmeyer and Eckenrode. Absent from the meeting was Burgess Barnes and Commissioner Case.
There were five guests and five residents in attendance.
In the absence of Burgess Barnes, Commissioner Eckenrode called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Reports from the Commissioners:
Commissioner Eckenrode reminded everyone that the Easter Egg Hunt is being held on March 30th in the Woodsboro Regional Park and begins at 12 Noon.
Commissioner Cutshall had nothing to report.
Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on the Service Line Inventory project mandated by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). This project began with the Federal Government in December 2021 and was recently pushed down to towns the size of Woodsboro this year. Even though the town does not own the service line that needs inventory, they are still being mandated to perform this inventory. There is one major problem and that is the spreadsheet provided by MDE. It has been sent back to them a couple of times for errors. The latest and greatest is expected to be out by the end of March. Commissioner Rittelmeyer informed the Council that the project needs to be completed by October 17, 2024.
Susan Hauver was in attendance to discuss Arnold’s Place and provided a handout to the Council. She will also attend April’s monthly meeting to discuss it further.
Comments from the Public:
Ms. Jaime Brennan, candidate for FCPS School Board, was in attendance to introduce herself and speak of the school system.
Joe Williams, Gravel Hill Rd, was in attendance to inquire on using the East side of the park again for a music festival on July 4th. He will have local musicians and food trucks. He also will provide porta pots, sound system and liability insurance at no cost to the town.
Mr. Williams also asked if the town could drop one of the tennis court nets to pickleball height. Tennis nets are 36” and pickleball nets are 34”. He would provide the pickleball net. He also indicated that he would purchase an adjustable tennis court net if the town allowed.
Ken Morgan, Wood St., reported on the curb and gutters along the streets in town. He indicated that Main Street is terrible with gravel and weeds growing and asked if the town employees were going to clean up.
There being no further discussions, the meeting was closed.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary E. Rice
