Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Council Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
August 12, 2024

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with the following members present:

Burgess Barnes, Commissioners Cutshall, Rittelmeyer and Eckenrode. Commissioner Case was absent from the meeting.

There were four guests and eleven residents in attendance.

Burgess Barnes called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the July 2024 minutes, a motion to accept them as presented passed 3 – 0.

Burgess Barnes reported the loan for the new town hall is going to be signed on Thursday, August 15th. Colors for siding, shutters, brick, and shingles have been chosen.

Burgess Barnes reported the plant operators last day is August 30th. He reported on a lead with a company to provide the services and informed the Council that an emergency vote will have to be taken.

Burgess Barnes reported on receiving over thirty resumes for the maintenance department. That was narrowed down to eight interviews and a selection was made.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer provided an update on the dredging of the pond.

Commissioner Eckenrode had nothing to report.

Commissioner Cutshall had nothing to report.

Burgess Barnes reported on crosswalks. We are currently waiting on FCPS to provide the bus route for Main Street so we can determine where to put them.

The first line of new business was with Mr. Kurt Kosko, representative with Shentel, a glo fiber internet service provider. Mr. Kosko provided a handout and spoke on expanding fiber services to the town. It is for internet, television, and phone. A brief discussion on the services was held.

Code Enforcement Officer, Donny Strawsburg opened discussion on the compliance of residents. He informed the Council that in his twenty-five months of employment he has not had to fine anyone. He would like to meet with the town attorney to discuss the steps should this occur. A brief discussion was held. Mr. Strawsburg suggested the Council discuss it further and get back with him.

Under comments from the public, Rec Council members JoAnn Howell and Max Timberlake were in attendance to discuss the Woodsboro New Midway Rec Council. Ms. Howell asked for clarification of a recent story published in the local newspaper about another team using one of the baseball fields. She and Mr. Timberlake indicated that the Rec Council still uses both fields. Burgess Barnes spoke up reporting that he has lived beside the field in question for six years and has yet to see the field being used. A brief discussion was held.

Resident Dillon Huber from 108 N. Main Street was in attendance to discuss a citation he received for untagged vehicles on his property. He would like to put car covers on them. When asked how many cars, he responded six. He informed the Council all cars are titled, and the longest one has been there is ten months. The zoning on the property is Central Business District (CBD). Burgess Barnes would like to review the zoning code and informed Mr. Huber not to remove the cars yet.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 4 – 0.
