Town Council Meeting Minutes
Woodsboro, Maryland
November 14, 2023
The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with the following members present:
Burgess Barnes, Commissioners Cutshall and Eckenrode. Absent from the meeting was Commissioners Case and Rittelmeyer.
There were three guests and seven residents in attendance.
Burgess Barnes called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The first line of business was with Erin Clark, CPA for SEK. Ms. Clark provided handouts and presented the FY23 Financials. She explained the Due to From water/sewer to the general fund for expenses incurred with payroll. She recommended writing this debt off the books but will need a formal vote from the Council to do so.
Under unfinished business, John Austin from South Second Street was in attendance to discuss his truck and trailer that he parks on the street. Burgess Barnes collected thoughts from the Commissioners and the Code Enforcement Officer. Mr. Strawsburg explained the next steps and asked if he could contact the town attorney. Burgess Barnes asked him to give the owner a chance to move it first before contacting the attorney. Mr. Smith agreed the code is the code and he will move the truck.
Commissioner Cutshall had nothing to report.
Commissioner Eckenrode reported the new skatepark is thriving.
Code Enforcer Donny Strawsburg provided a handout of calls he’s handled.
Under New Business, Burgess Barnes reported the ad to solicit bids for construction of the new town hall ran in the paper. Burgess Barnes thought maybe a special meeting should be held later
in December to review the bids. Consensus of the Commissioners was not to hold a special meeting due to the busy holiday season. It was decided that Mary would collect the bids, copy them and hand a packet out to each Commissioner to take home to review and vet the contractors. A decision will then be made at the January 9, 2024 meeting.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting and go into closed session passed 2 – 0.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary E. Rice
