Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Town Council Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland

December 13, 2022

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the fellowship room of St. John’s UCC with the following members present:

Burgess Barnes, Commissioners Cutshall, Eckenrode, Crum and Case. 

There were three guests and five residents in attendance.

Burgess Barnes called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the November 2022 minutes, a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

Under unfinished business, Burgess Barnes reminded everyone of the Public Hearing being held on January 10, 2023, during the town meeting. Those wishing to comment will have three minutes to do so.

Commissioner Case inquired on the broken piece on the playground equipment and was informed a new piece was received.

Commissioner Eckenrode had nothing to report.

Commissioner Cutshall had nothing to report.

Commissioner Crum reported on the upcoming skatepark.  Committees have been formed, they have met, and are working on grants, fundraisers, and donations. They would like to install a permanent sign with the rules and a listing of those who donated funds.

Burgess Barnes opened discussion on playground inspections. It was decided to contact an inspector for pricing.

Burgess Barnes opened discussion on the damaged porta pots in the park.  After a brief discussion it was decided to remove them from the park.  A motion to remove them permanently passed 4 – 0.

Burgess Barnes informed the Council that on Friday, December 16th all Council members, staff and spouses are invited to a Holiday luncheon at the Woodsboro American Legion.

Resident Judy Katz, Copper Oaks Drive, commented on the ongoing problem in front of her house.  She reported there are ruts from when the streets were repaved and they are getting worse. She reviewed the budget and there is money available to fix them.  She then asked if there are still bathrooms in the park and was informed there are but they close during the winter months.  

Resident Ken Morgan, Wood Street, reported Main Street by the post office and Barrick Lane needs to be cleaned.

Resident Ida Lee, S. Main Street, complimented the monument decorations.

Commissioner Cutshall inquired with resident Tom Jones, Wood Street, about obtaining a letter from the Rec Council agreeing to enlarge the baseball field.  Mr. Jones informed him the decision is between the Town and the Rec Council.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 4 – 0.
