Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
September 24, 2012

The regular scheduled Workshop Meeting of the Woodsboro Town Council was held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith, Commissioners Brakebill and Rittelmeyer. Absent from the meeting was Commissoners Trimmer and Spruill

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order.

There was one resident and one guest in attendance.

Burgess Smith opened discussion on the storm drain at 204 S. Main Street that appears to be clogged. All agreed to have it jet-vaced by Burns Septic. Commissioner Rittelmeyer suggested having all drains looked at.

Commissioner Brakebill opened discussion on the recent crosswalk painting project. A discussion was held on the crosswalks and stop lines at the corners of Elizabeth and Gravel Hill Roads and Main Street.

Commissioner Brakebill opened discussion on hanging the Holiday banners on Main Street. Burgess Smith will meet with the maintenance department to set this up.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer opened discussion on the Wetland project and provided a handout. He mentioned planting 900 seedling trees and 300 herbaceous plants in the area. They will also look at replacing the Ash trees as they die off. Commissioner Rittelmeyer also mentioned working on the POS paperwork. He then informed the Council that he will miss both the October meetings.

Burgess Smith reported the maintenance department moved the stop sign on S. Second St., had Gladhill Plumbing fix the drinking fountain and pulled the grass from the mulch under the playground.

Burgess Smith opened discussion on the road depressions in Scarlet Oak Ct. A review and discussion in reference to Civil Design’s report was held. After a brief discussion Commissioner Brakebill suggested we get 612 Scarlet Oak Ct. taken care of now because of its severity.

He also feels we should send the literature to the Town Attorney for review. A discussion to do so was then held. Upon completion of this discussion it was decided that Burgess Smith contact the Attorney. Burgess Smith then suggested obtaining bids to fix the area at 612 and Commissioner Brakebill felt that because it was an emergency bids would not be required. It was then decided that Burgess Smith contact Robert Shoemaker to see if he could perform the work.

Burgess Smith provided the budget to actual report and a quick review was done.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting passed 2-0.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary E. Rice
