Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
June 12, 2012

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith and Commissioners Brakebill, Spruill, Trimmer and Rittelmeyer.

There was three guest and no residents in attendance.

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order.

Deputy Sutton presented his report for the Town and surrounding area.

After review of the May 2012 minutes, a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

After review of the May 2012 financials, a motion to accept them as presented passed 4 – 0.

Commissioner Brakebill inquired on the opening of bids for sludge hauling and the presentation by Mr. Denis Superczynski due his absence at the past Workshop meeting in May. Burgess Smith briefed Commissioner Brakebill on both items.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer opened discussion on trash cans and lids for the park. Cans be purchased for approximately $35 and with lids for $70 – $75 at Sams Club. It was decided to get a total of ten, six for the three pavilions and four to be placed around the baseball fields. A motion to purchase ten cans and ten lids passed 4 – 0. Commissioner Rittelmeyer will look for them at Sams Club.

Commissioner Spruill had nothing to report.

Commissioner Trimmer opened discussion on the recently planted Red Oak tree at the park in memory of Tom Reese, deceased employee. He suggested we contact the family of Mr. Reese and make a presentation of a plaque and dedicate the tree. A suggestion was made to hold the event before the June Workshop meeting. All agreed and Mary will contact the Reese family.

Burgess Smith informed the Council that recently hired employee John Waite would like to have health insurance through the town. He reminded the Council that the town agreed to pay $3 per hour toward the insurance benefit. Mary will contact the insurance company.

Burgess Smith presented the FY13 Budget. After a brief review, a motion to accept the General Fund FY13 Budget as presented passed 4 – 0. A motion to accept the Water and Sewer Fund FY13 Budget as presented passed 4 – 0.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported the Civil War Markers at the park are now completed. A discussion on moving them to a more appropriate location was held and then tabled until the next Workshop Meeting.

Delegate Kathy Afzali was in attendance and indicated she would like to attend Municipality meetings in order to keep interaction between herself and the municipalities. Brief discussions were held.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was passed 3 – 0. Commissioner Trimmer excused himself from the meeting earlier.
