Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
October 24, 2011

The regular scheduled Workshop Meeting of the Woodsboro Town Council was held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Town Hall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith, Commissioners Brakebill, Rittelmeyer and Trimmer. Absent from the meeting was Commissioner Spruill.

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order.

The August 2011 minutes was reviewed and a motion to accept them as presented passed 3 – 0.

Commissioner Brakebill reported he is still working on obtaining crosswalk information. He also reported the project on Main Street at Church Alley has been completed and he has not heard back from the residents on Scarlet Oak Court.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on receiving a letter from POS indicating they have received our request for the fitness trail project and they are reviewing it. He also received an email from POS in reference to FY10 projects indicating the Town may have additional funds. It was determined the Town does not have additional funds.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported on a meeting he had with Lions Club representatives and a gentleman they solicited for help in reference to the tree planting in the park. They will plant trees along the paths and possibly bushes along the bank of Israel Creek to help with erosion. This will happen in the Spring of 2012.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported Jon Bolling is helping the Town by putting the disc golf equipment back in place after it was removed for the soccer field project and he has not heard back from Frederick Septic on the recyclable toilet yet. He also reported Barrick & Sons replanted a tree in island at the entrance to Copper Oaks Court.

Commissioner Trimmer reported the barrier wall around the fire hydrant at the north end of town is completed.

Burgess Smith updated the Council on the payment plan to MDE for the fine they imposed on the Town.

Burgess Smith provided an Actual to Budget report and reviewed it with the Council.

Under New Business, Commissioner Brakebill opened discussion on the holiday banners being displayed this year. It was decided to hire the contractor from last year to hang them again this year.

Commissioner Brakebill read an email from a lady he received in reference to bids pertaining to water & sewer. It was decided this email was a solicitation email.

Burgess Smith reported on the installation of the speed bumps on North Second Street. One is completed and the other will be done on Tuesday.

Commissioner Trimmer opened discussion on risers for shut off valves at fire hydrants. One is needed at the fire hydrant on North Main Street where the barrier wall was just installed. Burgess Smith suggested we purchase a few to have on hand.

There being no further business a motion to adjourn the meeting and go into closed session passed
