Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. These public meetings start at 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Please contact the Town Office at least two (2) weeks prior to a Council Meeting if you would like to get a topic on the agenda.

Planning and Zoning

Regularly scheduled Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday each month at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. The public is welcome to attend these meetings, which start at 6:00 PM.

Woodsboro Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month as needed at 6:00 PM at the meeting room behind St. Johns Church, 8. N. Second St. Please contact the town office to be added to the agenda one (1) month prior to the meeting if you have business to discuss.  If there are no topics brought forth to be placed on the agenda 1 month before this meeting, the committee will not meet that month.

Meeting Minutes

Woodsboro, Maryland
August 9, 2011

The Woodsboro Town Council met today at 7:00 PM in the Firehall with the following members present:

Burgess Smith and Commissioners Rittelmeyer, Brakebill, Trimmer and Spruill.

There was one resident and one guest in attendance.

Burgess Smith called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

After review of the July 2011 minutes a motion to accept them with one correction was passed 3 – 0. Commissioner Trimmer abstained from the vote.

Burgess Smith then reiterated a few items in the July minutes.

After review of the July 2011 Financial Statements a motion to accept them as presented passed 3 – 0. Commissioner Trimmer abstained from the vote.

Deputy Sutton provided a report for the month of July. He was asked to observe a home on N. Second that is now vacant.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer provided a handout on POS funding in Frederick County and a brief discussion was held.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported there are still available funds from FY10 and he would like to use the funds to install new paths where the creek bed erosion has taken place. He has an application packet ready for submittal and reminded everyone that it does not mean it is approved. He then provided two bids to perform the work. The first was from Hoover’s Paving and Grading in the amount of $4999 and second from Frederick County Paving in the amount of $5500. After discussion on whether to proceed forward was held and a motion was then made for Commissioner Rittelmeyer to proceed with the submission of the $1688 in available FY10 funds and to have the paths done now. Motion passed 4 – 0.

A motion to accept Hoover’s Paving and Grading bid to do the paths in the park passed 4 – 0.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer provided a copy of his FY13 CPP Application that entails replacing the playground equipment and laying rubber matting under it at the playground by the soccer field. This project in the amount of $118,500 is 100% reimbursable.

Commissioner Rittelmeyer reported the Wetland Project is moving very slowly and the Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Department of the Environment and the Frederick County Soil Conservation groups have now gotten involved.

There were no comments from the Public.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was passed 2 – 0.
